Almost in Order

A pattern that doesn’t quite settle.

Almost in Order is an original abstract oil painting by Andrew Read, combining repeated geometric forms with loose, energetic marks in shades of deep blue, violet and turquoise.

Rows of dark semicircles create a loose sense of order across the canvas. Small red-orange dots punctuate the pattern, while lighter strokes weave between the shapes, interrupting their regularity and creating movement across the surface.

The painting sits somewhere between structure and spontaneity. There is a rhythm to the repeated forms, but no two areas feel quite the same.
