“Do I need to attend this meeting?”

A question many of us have probably wanted to ask.

Part of my One Way to Put It collection, this original abstract painting takes a familiar piece of workplace language and places it against a chaotic, energetic background of colour, marks and movement.

There's something I enjoy about the contrast: a perfectly reasonable, politely worded question sitting amid all that visual noise. Perhaps the painting represents everything going on in your head while you decide whether you really need to be there.

The series explores what happens when ordinary things we say, write and think are isolated and given space to mean something else.
